What documents do I need to travel to Cuba?
A valid passport valid for 3 months after your return date from Cuba is required. A Cuban Tourist Card is also required and will be supplied by Cuba Discovery Tours unless you are booking your own flights.
How will we get around in Cuba?
A modern, air-conditioned bus will transport us to all activities and destinations. Not all are equipped with a washroom but frequent stops are made for bathroom breaks. On some tours we also travel by train and/or a ferry for short durations.
Do we need any vaccinations before we go?
Currently no vaccinations are required to travel to Cuba however it is in your best interest to visit your public health care department for updated information. There are basic precautions that they may recommend such as Hepatitis A and tetanus shots.
What about smoking?
There is no smoking allowed on the bus. A recent law banned smoking in taxis and some restaurants in Cuba. Some hotels provide non-smoking rooms, but not all. In the past this has not presented a problem as most floors are tile, and rooms are well ventilated.
What about the food?
Cuban food in the areas we travel is generally good, but there aren’t a lot of sauces or gravies used. Food is not spicy (hot) as you find in some Caribbean countries. There is an abundance of pork, grilled chicken, and fish. Fresh salads are always available as well.
How safe is Cuba?
Cuba is considered the safest country to travel in Latin America. Even so, common sense practices should prevail. Safety deposit boxes (located in all hotels) can be used for your valuables.
